#2 In the poem, "In a Station of the Metro" by Ezra Pound is short, but has some words and phrases that mean so much more. Specifically the first phrase, "The apparition of these faces in the crowd;". That word apparition means a ghost or ghostlike image of a person, that is significant to this poem because the author is describing city life and all of the people. This means that the people aren't different and all of the same, also they are mindless doing the same thing everyday. They are "ghosts," not really thinking, just mindlessly doing it.
#1 In the short poem "In a Station of the Metro" by Ezra pound, city life is seen as very fast paced and doesn't allow for the massive swarms of people to really learn more about eachother . This can be shown when Ezra says "The apparition if there faces in the crowd." I personally interpreted this as the author saying that in the city life typical day you're almost always surrounded by people, but since the city life is so far paced you're not able to really learn about anyone in specific but they are more just like blurry figures walking by with no meaning or significance to you. Also when Ezra states "petals on a wet, black bough..." this is representative of the fact that so many flowers may grow out of a single bough but it is key to make sure that you have some sort of individuality to yourself so you may stand out in a crowded, fast paced city life.
#2 In the short poem "In a Station of the Metro" we see that the word apparition appears in the first line. The word explains much more than just ghosts in the context. The ghosts (apparition) are the mindless people going to their 9-5 jobs day in and day out. They are ghostly faces because they are clones of each other just walking to the metro, working, then going home and going to sleep... then repeat. It also shows how the metro is a sort of gathering place for all these ghostly faces that are careless about others and really themselves.
